01Turn one missing name into a catch setup
Start with the name in the game’s Fishipedia rather than upgrading to a different lure at random. An older bait pool can still contain the creature you need late in a run. The route column gives a sensible starting area; read the rod and bait columns before choosing where to sail.
- Search the creature name. If you know only the bait, search its name to see the matching pool.
- Equip the listed rod and bait. For a boss row, read its special trigger and open the linked encounter route.
- Finish the encounter and check the game’s kill record. On 1.1.3, a first kill reveals that creature’s bait hint for a return trip.
- Record a normal or Drip kill in the checklist, then choose another unfinished creature from the same bait pool.
- Carp → Beginner Lure; Koi Fish → Standard Lure.
- Dogfish → Professional Lure; Tripod Fish → Scientific Lure.
- Piranha and Salmon → Beginner Lure in the reviewed 1.1.3 references; Pike also has a Beginner Lure setup.
02Use one Crab Carcass setup for eight euro catches
Alaska Pollock, Tench, Char, Amberjack, Squid, Mahi-mahi, Starfish and Sponge share Crab Carcass in the reviewed community reference. Collect the crab remains from the islet with three low sand patches, select that bait on your fishing rod, and search Crab Carcass to keep all eight targets together. The pickup island identifies where to obtain the bait, rather than a shoreline you must keep casting from.
For a missing Tench, check your build before another long session: Patch 1.1.2 fixed Tench spawning with the new bait. If your goal is euro spending money, follow the sale route after the catch instead of changing lure for each name.
03Preserve the item that triggers your missing boss
Check whether your target uses a shop Boss Lure, quest bait or another creature. Set aside that trigger before selling the rest of a fishing trip. A normal lure and its Boss Lure are different setups, even when the names share the same tier.
- Albatross: keep the Tuna needed for the next encounter.
- Bowhead Whale: use Fish Bucket, then preserve the Bowhead result for the Mutated Bowhead Whale chain.
- Manta: find the bridge-and-barrel islet and throw the movable dark oil barrel into the sea; prepare before moving it.
04Use the first-kill bait hint for a Drip return trip
Kill the base creature, reopen Fishipedia and read its bait hint. Hooking it alone is not the first-kill check added in Patch 1.1.3. Keep that matching bait selected when returning for its Drip form.
For a collection session, open the checklist and choose missing Drip kills, then filter by the bait you intend to use. Keep normal and Drip marks separate: Collector, the first-Drip milestone and Fishipedia are different Steam goals. Use the game’s own record to confirm your result before marking it here.
05Check the setup before repeating a failed trip
Change the part of the setup that matches the problem. A missing bait hint calls for a first-kill check; a missing boss calls for its trigger; a missing Drip entry calls for the correct pool and kill confirmation. Swapping equipment and islands together makes it harder to see which change helped.
- Wrong catches: compare the selected bait’s full name with the row, including “Boss Lure” where listed.
- No bait hint: finish the creature’s first kill and check that the installed build includes 1.1.3.
- Tench absent: equip Crab Carcass and check for the 1.1.2 spawning fix.
- Angelfish: begin with Standard Lure, the common setup across the conflicting location reports.
- Result differs from the table: note the creature name, build, rod, bait and solo/co-op state so the setup can be checked again.

What this guide can confirm
- Official achievement conditions and the 1.1.2–1.1.3 bait changes were rechecked on 2026-10-21. Collector uses creature kills; Fishipedia uses Drip kills. The trip-planning order is editorial guidance based on those conditions.
- The 63 documented rows combine 50 regular catches, 12 bosses or mini-bosses and a separate Bing Bong community report. Use the game’s record for achievement completion, rather than treating the website total as an official threshold.
- Catch mappings retain their listed community sources, versions and review dates. Crab Carcass’s eight-name pool is cross-checked against the dated 1.1.3 reference, and Manta’s barrel trigger agrees across three player guides.
